Teaching materials about the UNESCO World Heritage

The sensitization of the pupils to the Man/Environment relation in the alpine region Jungfrau-Aletsch is in the core of the Geography classes’ workshop for the Secondary school level II .The UNESCO World Heritage is explained from the point of view of the participating valleys and the different expectations are shown. The students debate about the numerous challenges and prospects of a sustainable development.

The workshop can take place from the 10th school year on and is conceived as a lesson for at least six double classes. The teaching materials can be used for the normal class (basic course Geography), during a one- week educational trip on-site or to prepare an evaluation of a study trip.

The Workshop resulted from a close cooperation between the PH Berne, the Centre for Development and Environment (CDE) of the University Berne and the UNESCO World Heritage Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch Management Centre.
