Monitoring

In the Monitoring field an initial area’s assessment was conducted in cooperation with the University Berne (CDE) to determine the starting point of the long-term monitoring. Therefore, data to roughly 30 indicators was collected and analysed. These indicators are used to record the dynamic of the World Heritage region; they reveal the nature, the habitat and the economic area. The developed indicators system is based on the UNESCO criteria used for the region’s inscription on the World Heritage List, as well as on the goals of the Management plan. With it, the main values and objectives in the World Heritage region can be depicted, current changes/evolutions shown and endangering identified.

The first assessment confirms the high values in the World Heritage region and shows the fields in which the current changes can represent a danger.
